Xbox 360 HDMI

Xbox 360 HDMI

The Xbox 360 HMDI interface is a means for transmitting uncompressed data for audio or video purposes. Not all Xbox's have an Xbox 360 HDMI port however. For those of you stuck with a version that does not have this port, there are many Xbox 360 HDMI conversion kits on the market that will allow you to solve this problem.

But a bit more about HDMI itself. The Xbox 360 HDMI cable is a means of replacing the industry standard, which are RF, Coaxial cables and a few more. They are especially essential if you want to enjoy video quality in High Definition. The technology itself was the invention of a joint venture between Philips, Sony and Hitachi to name a few companies. As such, they hold the patent rights to HDMI. A widely accepted technology, it enjoys support from Disney, DirecTV and Universal among others. It was an ground breaking innovation that brought clarity and video quality to the masses.

While they were generally made to be used in any cable length, there will be signal degradation if cables get too long. Therefore, all Xbox 360 HDMI cables are within a specified length of no more than six to ten feet. The longer the cable runs, the higher the degradation especially when displaying high DPI video. Most standard HDMI cables are suitable for 1080i or 720p video displays. But it does not just transfer video data, it also transfers audio data as well. Xbox 360 HDMI cables today will vary in price but they are generally inexpensive to purchase. High quality versions produced by big name brands will of course cost a bit more. Some good brands to purchase from include Microsoft's very own line of Xbox 360 HDMI cables, Venom, Snakebyte and Madcatz. Expect to pay no more than eight to ten pounds for a single cable while high quality types will usually run higher than ten pounds.
