Xbox 360 Slim 250gb
The Xbox 360 slim 250gb is the standard xbox 360 sold today. While the Xbox 360 slim 250gb is designated as the "Xbox 360 S", nowhere does the moniker "Slim" turn up, not even by Microsoft. Despite this, it is slimmer or rather, "shorter" than previous models. The dimensions of the Xbox 360 slim 250gb reads at 270x260x78 millimeters, which is slightly smaller than older versions. It was announced in June 14 2010 and it came with Wi Fi and a 250gb hardrive.
It was redesigned in such a way that allowed for an additional thirty percent more space with the new motherboard (Valhalla). The internals were not only smaller, but quieter during operation. It came standard with 5 USB ports and an extra one to use with specific items such as Kinect. The optical audio connecter is also built-in unlike older Xbox models. As such, the Xbox 360 slim 250gb does not require additional external adapters.
While older versions utilized two small fans for cooling, this has since been replaced with a single large fan. As larger fans do not need to rotate as fast as smaller ones to push the same volume of air through the console, fan noise is significantly reduced as well. The vents have also been redesigned to allow for greater cooling. Greater cooling was an issue that needed to be addressed as a means of avoiding the dreaded ring of death which was caused by overheating. A new marketing strategy also changed the way the consoles were named. From now on, different consoles were differentiated by the amount of hard dish space each of them had, much like the marketing strategy employed by Sony with their Playstation 3. In the past, the hard drive was fitted on top of the console where it now sits snuggly within the console itself in a specially designed hard drive bay. All Xbox 360 slim 250gb bundles come with one wireless controller (Black), a video cable and a headset (Wired). All newer console have HDMI ports but a HDMI cable must be purchased for use.
